About the client
I have had a spider phobia since childhood. It has persisted until my 53rd year when I decided to seek help for it from Caroline as it impacts on so much of my life.
Client’s objectives of using this service
To remove the fear of spiders that effects my daily life through summer and autumn, this fear leads me to be unable to do everyday tasks such as go in a garage or shed, look under a bed, watch TV programmes about nature, be unable to sleep if alone overnight during these months.
The role of YOL
I had 2 appointments with Caroline lasting 1 hour each.
What was the most challenging part of the process from client’s perspective?
Thinking about spiders a lot more than I would normally was a great challenge.
What has been the main result?
It has been remarkable I can now go into my garage and shed, take my time and look for the things in there that I need. I no longer panic if I see a spider, my brain just tells me that it is only a spider and it cannot hurt me. I do not remember a time when I have not panicked when I see a spider, for example the other day I was in the kitchen and noticed a large spider under the kickboards and I kept on making my cup of tea, turned my back on the spider and calmly decided what to do about it. After making my tea I walked past the spider and got the vacuum out and vacuumed it up. I would be completely unable to do these things before my work with Caroline, then I would have fled out of the kitchen straight away, shut the door, avoided the room all day and got my husband to remove the spider as soon as he returned from work.
Also, I can now sleep with windows open during hot weather.
What advice would you give to other people looking for this type of service?
I would say definitely have NLP with Caroline it works! I am amazed at the difference I thought NLP would calm my fear slightly but it has completely removed the fear that was there for all of my life and the sense of calm control I now feel when I see a spider is something I always thought was impossible for me.
